I love when a music video matches the vision the song invokes in my head. Directed by Nabil, this video, while decidedly NSFW still gives a feeling of cinematic sophistication. John Mayer is up in it, too. Watch Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids”.
Ok, Odd Future Wolfgang Blah blah blah… These kids scare the sh!t out of me. That being said, I copped Frank Ocean’s “Nostalgia, Ultra”, love Syd the Kyd’s remix of Little Dragon’s “Seconds” and keep Tyler “Creepy Ass Little Kid” the Creator’s “She” in near constant rotation.
A friend introduced me Odd Future a year or so ago, explaining the “legend” of Earl Sweatshirt in his odd, disjointed way. I chalked up the strange story up to my friend’s horrible storytelling skills but it seemed that his story— he was in boarding school or bootcamp or something— was more or less true.
Now, Earl has returned from…wherever. So, I guess, welcome back? I might be listening?
