Compact Discs: A Car Story

I’m running out of things to listen to in my car. My vehicle is never really on my mind when I’m not in it but lately, things are different. I’m back in the real world, the land of 9 to 5ers and rush hour commutes. So I find myself in the that good old 2004 Grand Prix a lot more now, trying to find something to listen to.

My car doesn’t have an “audio in” jack. Crazy, right? It was built long ago in a time before the proliferation of iPods and Zunes and cell phones that play music and wifi everythings with built in speakers. My in-car musical entertainment is dependent on CDs or —gasp—the radio. Audience, I have a question for you. Who among us has burned a cd recently? Bought one? As I cast my eyes over you, fair readers, I see no hands. (Please note that any statistical data presented in this article is entirely made up. I didn’t research anything. Not one thing.) I have an enormous CD wallet in my car, once my pride and joy, and now everytime I flip through it I feel like I’m gearing up to DJ for an old school party.

so here I am at the end of the second decade of the 21st century, contemplating CDs. So people, help me out here. I’ve got the music— 75 gigs worth— so tell me, what do you think are the most “burn worthy” CDs of the last 6 months?
